Yo! My name's Kazuya Minegishi. I'm just your average boy... or so I thought! As it turns out, my world has a demon infestation problem, and guess who got roped into taking care of it? That's right. It's your boy.

Don't get me wrong-- I'm no hero. I'd rather be listening to cool music on my MP3 player than summoning demons. But hey, when the fate of the world and my friends is on the line, a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

Pretty cool, right? I'm so cool. I've since ascended to the throne and become the King of Demons. All the demons in the world now bow to me. I may look like a lanky boy, but I've got so much power and hunger for human souls.

I think so. If not through Makai, then through the Sea of Souls.

[ Since demons are also in essence, born from there. And all humans await their turn to have their souls scrubbed clean of their memories, and then reincarnate. ]

Awhile back, Yu and I were comparing my demons versus his personas. They're pretty much physically identical, which I thought was interesting. On top of that, we both have access to the same forms of magic. Diarahan, Agi, Bufu... Though interestingly, there was one spell where we differed. For me, it's Zan. For him, it was Garu.

[when Kotone and Minato arrive, Akira will learn that the "Sea of Souls" is also, apparently, the birthplace of all Personas. but for now, it's another phrase that he doesn't recognize. another lonely little puzzle piece he doesn't know where to place]

Humans can't get to Makai. And any who do quickly die. [ It's why he had to give up his humanity and soul. So he could rally an army there. ]

It's strictly for demons and otherworldly beings. As for the Sea of Souls, that's where humans go when they die. Your soul gets scrubbed clean of all of it's memories, and then you reincarnate, basically becoming a new person.

Pretty lackluster, isn't it? And using it as a highway does seem like a good idea until the fact that humans can't go there comes into play. And then you'd also have to weaken the barriers in your world that keep demons out of it. Not a great thing to do, honestly.

And I think my world has enough problems of its own that adding demons on top of things would be. . . [lifts a hand and waggles it. Akira has had enough fighting during his tenure as a Wild Card, he does not wish to be called upon by the threads of fate yet again] Though I bet letting them in would really piss off the gods.

It's pretty crazy, actually. I had to kill them to let demons in myself, before I could ascend the throne of Bel.

Point is, for me, sometimes two just wouldn't cut it. But I guess I was working with aspects of my soul, and not. . . separate sentient beings.

Some demons complained when I fused them, but honestly? I can't say I really cared. The demons I made were stronger than their parts, and I needed strong demons.

[Shout out to Gagyson, who said that Kazuya was more of a demon than him for fusing demons together.]

I had a program do it for me.

Sometimes I'd buy a bunch of demons off the auction just to fuse them together to get stronger ones.

Well. Technically, they aren't a part of anyone's soul when I beat them up. Shadows are just random pieces of human cognition wandering around the cognitive world.

They become a part of my soul when I recruit them.

Think of it this way: Personas and Shadows are two sides of the same coin. The Persona is the mask one wears to face society's hardships-- that's why we can use them to fight.

The Shadow is one's darker desires. The things we repress, the emotions we'd rather not feel. . . that sort of thing. Someone can only wield their Persona if they have mastery over their Shadow.

[in other words, someone had to have an innate understanding of their hidden desires in order to use their Personas. someone too far in denial would not be able to tap into the power of their soul so easily]
