[Nope. No take-backsies. Kazuya pushes off of Basil, bread still in his mouth as he desperately tries to chew faster. No. Hold on. He's got this.
He's got this.
He's absolutely got this.
Until he doesn't.
Hands are so important for eating. The bread goes down, but gets stuck, because a stupid asshole can't figure out how to properly chew. He's not choking-choking, but he is making little wheezy sounds as he tries to get it down.]
( I-Is he okay?! Oh God, he won't be able to live with himself if he dies. Basil quickly looks around before he tries to pat the cat's back. He doesn't know what else he's supposed to do. )
A-Are you okay?!
( Note to self: never give Marigold any human food. )
[What? No... He can't do that. His bread... (That belongs to Basil, but Kazuya is understandably upset about not getting more bread.)
He vocalizes his protests in small little chirping sounds, bapping the bread more furiously. Or rather, bapping where it had been put away more furiously.
It's fine! He didn't choke entirely! He'll figure it out...]
[Hurt himself? Him? Impossible. He's perfectly fine. Didn't even choke at all.
Truly.
As Basil turns, Kazuya falls back to all fours, a little disappointed. If he goes back with him, he's not going to be fed actual cat food, is he? Surely not. Surely not. But curiousity is, in fact, about to kill him, probably, and he wanders up right beside Basil once more, keeping stride with him if he chooses to keep walking.]
( Basil will start to make his way to the cottages then. He had just gotten settled into a new one with Kel. It was roomy, but ideal if Kel's brother ended up showing up here, too. )
( Once they reach the cottage, they'll start by passing through the garden. Kel and Basil are still working on replanting everything thanks to moving.
Marigold runs out then, stopping midstep as soon as she spots Kazuya, fur immediately fluffing up and back arching before she stops and approaches Kazuya with caution. )
Be nice to them, Marigold... I-It's okay. There's no need to be scared, either. This is a friend.
[ Oh. This other cat isn't very friendly, are they. Kazuya looks up as Basil chastizes the other cat, and then back to Marigold.
And promptly sits.
Then lays down entirely in the dirt, trying do de-escalate the situation by closing his eyes very slowly. Yeah, he's not the only one who knows how cats do things.
Man, though. Basil's cat is so small.
(Or rather, Kazuya is just large but has not realized he is Not An Actual Cat. Oops.) ]
( For a moment, Basil merely watches the both of them. Marigold cautiously steps forward to sniff at Kazuya before she meows again, running to Basil and rubbing against his legs. She must be trying to get her scent on him again...
Basil reaches down to gently pet her head before looking to Kazuya and opening the door. There are boxes neatly placed in a pile, but most of their things have been unpacked. )
[ Good thing he's not actually a cat. That might be a little offensive otherwise? As it is, he stays put until Marigold has calmed down, only rising back up when the door is opened to follow Basil in.
He's still a little wary of potentially getting slapped by Basil's cat, so he keeps a decent distance between them.
He does look up at him when he makes a comment about naming him.
What about something like... Iris? The flowers are really pretty, and... they can represent faith, courage, and wisdom.
( Though, with how he ended up choking on the bread, maybe that wasn't such a good choice. He'll wait to see what the cat thinks. He seems pretty responsive to a lot of what Basil has to say. )
[Truly? He doesn't really care what it is, so long as the other guy settles on something for his "name". It doesn't really feel like a fit, and something like faith? For him? Nah.
Well, there are more than one meaning of the word, and maybe he does fit the other meaning of being faithful to his friends, but it still kinda rubs him the wrong way. Even still, not his call, right? So instead he'll look away from Basil and go explore around the immediate area.
And you know, make a menace of himself inside a box, or something.]
( Ah, he doesn't seem to like his name, does he... He'd have to think of something else. But, Iris was a pretty name, wasn't it?
For now, he'll focus on finding some food for him. Finding an extra bowl in the kitchen, he ends up putting out some actual meat for him. He can only hope that Marigold won't try to steal it.
... If he can find him, anyways. He seems to have wandered off... At the least, Basil keeps their home decently clean. And with his size, he shouldn't be too hard to find. )
Inside one of the moving boxes, of course. Though not before exploring just about everywhere else in the close proximity. Kazuya hops up onto the side of the box as Basil calls out for him, though the unfortunate side effect is that he's bulky, and sends it of-kilter.
Meaning it falls, loudly, and out spills all of Kazuya in his cat glory.
He looks at Basil upside down, soft kitty tummy vulnerable for petting.]
[ He does trust Basil enough, but the truth is that when his hand hits his stomach, it tickles, and causes him to twitch and squirm under him, and slowly try and slink out move towards the food set out once he's able to.
There was a little tummy petting allowed, which was nice, right?
Less nice when Kazuya starts horfing down the meat in the same awkward manner he had the bread... ]
( Basil doesn't try to keep petting his stomach then. Experience has told him not to push anything a cat moves away from. Likely, he's telling him to cut it out. And--
Really?
Basil reaches to gently pet Kazuya's back, sighing a little. )
S-Slow down... You're going to hurt yourself again.
[He's eating the meat more like an alligator than a cat, horfing pieces down and swallowing them whole once he figures that chewing is too much work. Surely a demon king should have some pride in not eating like this?
Not Kazuya. He just keeps going, purring as he's pet down his back, having a grand old time.
And then chokes.
Again. Second bite from the last and even as he's coughing he's still purring like a dumbass.]
( WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?? Basil quickly takes the food away, and quickly attempts to look to Kazuya in an attempt to see if he can help him from choking. )
You have to eat more slowly! It's not going anywhere...
( What was the rush in eating like this?? Marigold would get eager to eat too, but not like this. )

A little will be alright. But, just a little.
( A little wouldn't hurt them, right? The cat is big enough to where a bit won't make him sick... )
no subject
Gently, careful not to bite him.
Oof. Chewing isn't exactly as easy as he thought like this? He's trying to chew like a person, but it just isn't doable.
Which probably makes it look awkward as hell. ]
no subject
He reaches to try to take it. )
I... Is it bad? Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe you could have some of Marigold's treats instead?

Dry ass cat mouth not withstanding. Ohhh Cats were Not Meant To Eat Bread. Alas, like any horrific animal, he turns to Basil. Makes a "Brrp" noise.
And moves to bap the bread again.
More, please. ]

Sorry, but you shouldn't have anymore! If you're hungry, then I'll find more food at home for you.

Well, he seems unhurt! And Basil can't help but laugh quietly, putting the food down not too far from where Kazuya had fallen. )
Silly, you have to be careful! These piles aren't stable enough for a cat your size.
